On 13 March 2026, Meta published an update about original content on Facebook. We reviewed the announcement on 15 October 2026. The dated report matters for businesses tempted to fill a page with copied clips; our practical response is to build a small library of material the business can explain and stand behind.
What the announcement actually says
Meta said it was prioritizing original Facebook content and reducing distribution of unoriginal material. It clarified that minor changes to another creator’s post, such as borders or captions, do not establish originality. The announcement also discussed tests of impersonation-reporting improvements. It does not promise reach for an individual business.
Start with material only your business can make
A hypothetical repair shop can explain a maintenance question using its own demonstration. A food business can show an ingredient decision without exposing a customer’s order. Write the useful point first, then film the minimum needed to explain it. Keep customer identities and confidential work outside the frame.
Check permission and context separately
Keep a record of who made each asset and whether publication is permitted. Permission to use material and a platform’s recommendation decisions are separate questions. Avoid presenting a supplier’s footage as your own workshop. If an example is staged or illustrative, make that context clear to the audience.
Build a manageable production habit
Choose one weekly customer question and capture a short answer in the business’s own voice. Store the original file, approved wording and permission notes together. Review comments for new questions. Apply this as a production habit; do not turn a single platform announcement into claims about every network’s rules.
