An incorrect caption can change an offer more than a rough camera shot. A missing negative, wrong telephone digit or mistranslated Somali phrase can reverse the speaker’s meaning. Build caption review into production rather than leaving it for the final minute. The routine below is a practical editorial method for business videos, not a promise that every platform supports every language automatically.

Treat automatic captions as a first transcript

YouTube warns that automatic captions can misrepresent speech because of accents, pronunciation or background noise, and recommends reviewing them. Check the actual language support for your publishing route. Listen to the original recording while correcting the text. Never translate an uncertain word by guessing from the business context alone. Ask the speaker what they meant. Keep a corrected transcript as the reference for later edits and language versions.

Review facts separately from spelling

Make a short list of names, quantities, prices, dates and contact details. Compare those items with the approved business brief, then check whether the speaker’s audio matches it. Correcting only spelling will not catch an expired offer or a wrong number spoken clearly. For a hypothetical delivery business, confirm whether the sentence says delivery is included or charged separately. That distinction belongs in both the spoken explanation and the caption.

Make the words readable at the moment they matter

Break captions at meaningful phrases and give the viewer time to read. Use clear contrast and avoid placing text over faces, product details or interface controls. Include meaningful sounds when they contribute to understanding. A styled burned-in caption is visible in the picture, while a separate caption track can offer player controls where supported. Choose the appropriate deliverables for the channel and retain the editable text rather than delivering only a finished video.

Test the final export rather than only the editor

Play the exported file from start to finish on a phone. Look for clipped lines, captions that vanish too quickly and text hidden under platform overlays. Ask a fluent reviewer to check Somali or English wording when translation is involved. Compare the final caption file with the final cut so timing changes have not left it out of sync. Approval should cover the words and their presentation together. Fix mistakes promptly and retain the corrected version for the next publication.
